Four of our masters travelled to Vancouver to compete in the Cascadia Masters Regatta on July 15 & 16. There was stellar racing by all crews over the weekend – notably our women’s singles who brought home 4 gold medals. Congratulations to Ruth and Judy! Well done, Maple Bay!
Victoria City Rowing Club hosted the Challenge West/BC Championships/CANAMEX regatta on the weekend of July 7-9. Maple Bay sent a small but mighty contingent of 6 masters and 4 juniors to race. Our crews came home with 9 medals and some exciting stories to tell. Congratulations on a successful weekend of racing!
We had a fantastic day at the rowing club with the Canucks Autism Network. Lots of MBRC volunteers stepped up to host a “try it” rowing experience for some amazing kids. What a great organization! So many smiles at the end of the day.
The Maple Bay Community really knows how to throw a Canada Day celebration. The parade is exactly small town Canada – wear red and white and you’re in it! The scenery is gorgeous and heals your soul – on the shores of Maple Bay. And the club gets all dressed up, too!
Thanks for another great Canada Day, Maple Bay!
Join the Maple Bay Community at the rowing club to celebrate Canada’s 150th!
New this year, in addition to the annual parade, barbecue, displays and various waterfront activities, local artists will be participating by setting up booths to display and sell their artwork.
The parade offers lots of family fun. Muster at the Herd Road dog park across from the old firehall at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. start.
There are awards for the following categories: biggest family or group; best dressed pet; best dressed child, toddler, or baby; youngest participant; oldest participant; best bicycle; best decorated car; best float; best woman suffragette (this year’s theme) and latest Canadian citizen.
Once that’s over, there are activities down by the club, including a band, a children’s marine creature park, food, and a Canada Day cake.

Club members gathered this past Saturday for spring cleaning. Paint was touched up, window frames replaced, gardens weeded, boats tuned up and we even retired some of our older boats. Notably, The Petch (an ancient eight) was removed from the roof and taken away. The club looks great! Thanks to all who helped out.
